Since The Prevent Duty is a legal requirement for:
- All UK schools and universities
- Local authorities
- Probation Services
- Prisons and Police
- Fire and Rescue Services
- Health sector professionals
- Any private company or charity providing services to children and adults at risk on behalf of the above
and is part of the Counter-Terrorism and Security Act 2015.
The duty outlines a responsibility to demonstrate the implementation of robust safeguarding policies to help identify children, young people and vulnerable adults at risk of being drawn into terrorism, or extremist ideology associated with terrorism, and intervene when necessary.
It places a duty to co-operate on all partners of a panel to assist the police and the panel in carrying out their functions under the Counter Terrorism and Security Act 2015.
