Katie
A passionate safeguarding practitioner and strong consultant lead with enthusiasm for continuous learning, striving for excellence and promoting best practice in safeguarding.
Katie began her career in policing, serving for over five years as a Police Officer, where she gained extensive frontline experience supporting victims, managing complex investigations, and working collaboratively within multi-agency safeguarding frameworks. This experience, together with her own lived experience of domestic abuse, shaped her lifelong commitment to improving how systems recognise, respond to, and prevent harm.
Beginning her professional journey with undergraduate studies in Forensic Psychology and is currently completing a Master’s in Criminology and Social Justice. Her academic and professional interests focus on the impact of early trauma on behaviour and rehabilitation, and on embedding trauma-informed principles within the criminal justice and social care sectors.
She is also a passionate advocate for change, dedicated to developing training and awareness that improve responses to safeguarding concerns and promote social justice. She works with professionals across sectors to strengthen practice, raise standards, and encourage reflective, trauma-informed approaches.
In addition to being and associate, Katie serves as Vice Chair of a Foster Panel, contributing to the safeguarding and well-being of children in care. She is also an active mentor and public speaker, recognised for her ability to combine lived experience with professional expertise to inspire understanding, empathy, and sustainable change.
Katie is a disabled mother of three teenagers and an advocate for inclusion, accessibility, and resilience. Outside of her professional life, she volunteers with the RAF Cadets, and enjoys walking her miniature dachshunds along the coast.
