Janet
Qualified social worker with expertise in statutory child and family social work and quality assurance. Dedicated, experienced, passionate safeguarding professional.
With over fifteen years experience in social work practice, Janet brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise working with the safeguarding field in both statutory and voluntary organisations.
Currently, Janet works as a Child Protection Conference Chair part-time, scrutinising child protection plans and providing constructive feedback to ensure their effectiveness. Janet actively contributes to improving safeguarding practices within children’s social care and partner agencies through quality assurance and auditing activities.
Janet also contributes to a university’s social work qualifying programmes as a practitioner teacher, on an ad-hoc basis.
Within the voluntary sector, she has served as the Safeguarding Trustee for a children’s charity, providing strategic oversight for the charity’s safeguarding-related activities, offering supervision to the operational Designated Safeguarding Lead, and ensuring that the charity complies with Charity Commission safeguarding guidance.
Janet also serves as the Independent Member for Safeguarding in the Audit and Risk Committee for a national sight loss charity. In this capacity, she plays a pivotal role in reviewing the charity’s risk register to identify and address safeguarding risks effectively. Janet also provides oversight on safeguarding investigations, ensuring alignment with best practices and regulatory guidelines alongside the charity’s CEO and designated safeguarding lead. Her multifaceted contributions reflect her unwavering commitment to safeguarding and enhancing the well-being of vulnerable individuals.
