Karen
Dynamic, passionate and warm-hearted with a sincere desire to influence service delivery and support professionals.
Karen is a qualified teacher, trainer and youth worker with extensive experience of working with children, young people and adults. She has knowledge and understanding of the significance of safeguarding, child sexual exploitation, human trafficking and the vulnerabilities of children and young people.
She has completed training in Adverse Child Experiences, Advanced Sexual Health studies, specialist child sexual exploitation training with “Safe and Sound” and PACE (Parents Against Child Exploitation) and a PGCE from UCLan in “Leadership and Management in Social Work and Social Care”.
Initially working as a primary school teacher in London for several years before becoming an advanced practitioner for Lancashire Youth and Community Service, a position she held for 26 years before setting out as a trainer.
Karen has been a school Governor at Primary and Secondary Schools and was successful in achieving a Propeller Enterprise Award from UCLan for her work related to C.A.T – Child sexual exploitation Awareness Training.
Karen volunteers as a Child Welfare Officer at a local BMX track which supports her son and his training as he competes in BMX Racing at National and International levels. She is a coach, nutritionist, nurse, adviser, driver, cheerleader and number one supporter – all part of being a mum!
