What is a Safeguarding Champion?
A safeguarding champion is a proactive individual who takes a lead role in advocating and implementing safeguarding practices. This role is particularly important where you want to develop a safer culture based on good practice and a shared responsibility.
Safeguarding Champions actively promote awareness of safeguarding issues and encourages a culture that prioritises the wellbeing and safety of individuals. They may contribute to the development and review of safeguarding polices and procedures and offer support and guidance to colleagues and/or volunteers who have safeguarding concerns or questions relating to safeguarding.

- Take time for action planning for ownership, embedding the safeguarding champion’s structure and a communications strategy.
