Combined Safeguarding Children, Young People and Adults at risk Level 1

Whether you work face-to-face, with children or have contact with them only occasionally, then Safeguarding Level 1 training is a legal requirement. This course is designed to enable you to comply with statutory guidance.

At the end of the course, you will be familiar with current legislation and guidance surrounding safeguarding children and adults at risk, know the signs and symptoms to look out for, know what to do if you are worried someone is being abused or neglected, know how to respond to disclosures and how to share and record information for safeguarding.



What will you Learn on a Combined Level 1 Safeguarding Training Course?


  • Identify the relevant legislation and guidance that safeguards children and adults at risk
  • Identify what is meant by safeguarding and child and adult abuse
  • Name the categories of child and adult abuse
  • Recognise the signs and indicators of possible abuse and behaviour changes (including Child Sexual Exploitation, Female Genital Mutilation, Bullying and Harassment, Honour Based Violence, Forced Marriage, Domestic Abuse, Violence Against Women and Girls and the Prevent Agenda)
  • Identify the barriers to report concerns (from both victim and professional perspective)
  • Understand how to respond to individuals that you are concerned about
  • Understand how to report concerns or allegations of abuse (including emergency responses)
  • Awareness of information sharing and multi-agency working- Data Protection Act 2018 and GDPR


Who is Level 1 Safeguarding Training for?


Level 1 training is for anyone who works with or comes into contact with children, young people, vulnerable adults / adults at risk of harm or abuse. It provide an understanding of National safeguarding principles and best practices.

Roles ( paid or otherwise) that require safeguarding Level 1 training are based in a variety of sectors and organisations including:-
